Benefit recipients are slated to receive a $300 one-time benefit payment if funding is available.
Total cost for the payment is $9.42 million.
Payment conditions and timing
- The payment is to be mostly funded with expanded gaming revenues. The Kansas Supreme Court recently
upheld the constitutionality of the Expanded Lottery Act.
- The Budget Director for the State of Kansas will decide if funding is available based on gaming revenues.
- If funding is available, KPERS will send the one-time payment on or after October 1, 2008.
Eligibility
Of the more than 65,000 benefit recipients, 31,000 are eligible.
- Member who retired on or before July 1, 1998, with at least 10 years of service,
and their joint survivors.
- Disability recipients who began receiving benefits on or before July 1, 1998.
